Ms. Lugo began her media career as a production assistant at CNN's New York newsroom. She worked as a copywriter and reporter for NBC News' national newsroom in North Carolina and returned to New York as special correspondent and anchor for Univision. She covered politics, international relations and leadership issues. As a leading New York journalist, Ms. Lugo honed her skills in television production, writing, research & investigation, live reporting, and anchoring. Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani of New York appointed Ms. Lugo, Deputy Press Secretary in 1997. As a public affairs and government professional, Ms. Lugo worked on strategy, crisis management, press events, community relations, education, policy and legal affairs. Ms. Lugo became the First Deputy Press Secretary to the Mayor in early 1999, a position she held until 2000, when she joined ABC News as Director of Media Relations. At ABC News, Ms. Lugo served as primary media liaison for Peter Jennings and ABC's World News Tonight and supervised press relations for ABC News programs, executives, and talent. Ms. Lugo also served as Director of Corporate Communications for Cablevision Systems Corporation, New York cable operators and owners of Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden and its sports teams. This before establishing an independent strategic communications practice, serving San Juan, PR and New York City. In 2004, along with communications leader, Vanessa V. Valiente, she co-founded Infinity Strategic Communication Corporation. Ms. Lugo is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, New York Chapter. Samantha I. Lugo-Rullán is a classical literature and journalism graduate of New York University.
